. . . Except for how we all deserve to be indentured servants, because we have debt to work off. This is a fair and just system.
And it’s not like we could just not have it. People need the incentive to be careful with their money!
. . . although in my case, it was my parents who racked up the debt. I still deserve to be a servant, though, because . . .

I want to give poor brainwashed Leif all the hugs.
If you are too tired to remember something that big (and have to say because twice) then it can’t have been for a good reason.
Self-defense mechanism. He knows that it’s not fair that he’s on the hook for his parent’s misdeeds, but he utterly is without tools to dig himself a tunnel to that realization. Thorn is working on that.
