Her name was Clover. She and Plum got married and had you and your sister.

Clover did a lot of traveling, for work. I . . . don’t think you said what she did? But you understood it was important.

. . . and then she died, on one of those trips, when you were . . . seventeen? I guess it was a famous disaster in your country. I never heard about it until you told me.
