Rowan: Seriously, Violet? You think that saga only has one flaw?

I mean, it’s good and all . . . but you should have higher standards! You’ve read all the most classic works of literature. In three languages!

Violet: Figure of speech, Rowan. ‘Course the saga’s got lots of issues.

Rowan: Oh.

Violet: You want to read some critical essays on it? I got a book of those at the apartment you can borrow . . .

Rowan: That’s okay! I’ll take your word for it!

Was the Read or Die reference intended? Because if so, I like it!

Violet here is a major bibliophile, so she would fit right in with that crew, but I wasn’t consciously quoting anything from the series…

Which three languages, of the five or six you’ve told us about? (Counting modern and ancient forms of one language as different, like Old, Middle, and Modern English.)

Ceannic, Sønska, and…

…let me get back to you on that.

I will say that Rowan isn’t counting ancient/modern forms of language separately. We know Violet’s read the Epic of Rhódon in the original Middle Ceannic, but everyone in Ceannis is pretty proprietary about that being their national epic, even if — in practical terms — it was written in a different language from the one they speak now.
