For D, 3 and 30.

3. Biggest regret?

“Oh dear, I’m not sure I have one. I’ve led a bit of a charmed life! Although if I did regret something…not to be rude, darling, but I’m quite sure you wouldn’t have the clearance level to know about it.”

30. Would they smooch a ghost?

“I suppose that depends. Is it a polite ghost? Attractive? No ulterior motives? I might be persuaded.”

Rowan, 5 and 18

5. If they could hang out with one famous person in 18th century American History, who would they want to hang out with?

“Never heard of the place. Who were the most interesting writers? Hang on, let me look that up on your version of the Net…hm. Margaretta Faugeres looks sweet. I’ll say her.”

18. Would they rather fight a hundred duck-sized horses, or one horse-sized duck?

“Duck-sized horses. All I’d have to do is scare them into running away! Whereas if you took a duck, which already has those fangs and claws, and scaled it up to the size of a horse? No thank you.”

Rowan, 2, 23.

2. How good are they at tongue twisters?

“Okay, not to brag, but I am amazing at tongue twisters. Listen to this: ‘It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.’

“…I’m not sure how well it works in translation, but if you heard it in Ceannic you would be very impressed.”

23. Thoughts on death?

“Probably the same kind anyone else has. It’s hard, and it sucks. Although my heartsword is on record at the National Museum — you can look it up on the net if you want, it’s in their 16th-century collection — and there’s a weird kind of existential comfort in finding that out. Even knowing how reincarnation works in general, it’s different when you know for sure it’s happened to you.”

Wait… reincarnation is a thing in this universe? Heartswords prove it? Does that make Rowan a big deal/scientific curiousity, or does that sort of thing happen all the time?

Happens all the time! They keep extensive records of heartswords — now facetized and easily searchable by shape, color, and features — so you can find out if you have another heartsword-bearing incarnation on record.

Rowan has a recent-enough incarnation that there’s a little biographical sketch with the record. Thorn and Violet both have swords that only appear in ancient, faded, flaking records, with no personal details that survived. Peach’s sword has been recorded twice: one from a few centuries ago, one much older. Birch and Juniper, nothing yet.

(They don’t have any way to test if it’s universal, but I can tell you that everyone reincarnates, and the same soul will always draw the same heartsword.)

Mata, 24 and 25.

24. Do they have any interesting skills?

“Haha, I wish. I’m a pretty boring person! My only skills are things like hydraulics, pneumatics, spellcraft, structural analysis, metallurgy, casting, welding, sintering, drafting, aerodynamics, geotechnical engineering, acoustics, tribology, instrumentation, hardware design…so, nothing all that exciting.”

25. Favorite animal?

“Beavers! Although ducks have grown on me.”

Thorn, #1 and #22. ;P

More seriously… How about 12, 17, and maybe 19?

1. How many dead parents do they have?

“Uh, one, last time I checked. Why? Wait, do you know something I don’t?”

22. Most amazing monster they have ever killed or helped kill?

“Listen, if you look up my name, you’ll be inundated with articles that have more detail than you ever wanted to know.”

12. What’s their favorite beverage?

“Bhang lassi.”

17. What’s their favorite food?

“Used to be vegetable curry. Now it’s fish curry. Here’s one thing they don’t tell you about animal soulbonds: your tastes might change.”

19. They have to go live on a deserted island. They can take one thing and one person. What do they take?

“Weird question. Wouldn’t you always get pretty much the same answer, no matter who you asked? A boat and a water mage.”

Any/all of:

Leif 6

Thorn 30

Ivy 23

Astrid 29

^_^

6. What’s their theme song?

Leif: “You mean…a song I listen to a lot? Anything by Dómari. Or Evärdlig.”

(Do you think Sonata Arctica’s “Abandoned, Pleased, Brainwashed, Exploited” is a little too on the nose…? Also, Styx’s “Blue Collar Man”, and, for his eventual relationship to Thorn, Leaves’ Eyes’ “Into Your Light.”)

30. Would they smooch a ghost?

Thorn: “Uh…ghosts aren’t real, but speaking in hypotheticals…I guess if someone I loved died and came back as one, sure.”

23. Thoughts on death?

Ivy: “It’s my duty as a magical girl to protect people’s lives! But you shouldn’t be sad for too long when someone dies, because death is the next great adventure!”

29. Biggest positive and negative influences on their life and development?

Astrid: “Biggest positive: the passion of Holger Saga fans. Biggest negative: also the passion of Holger Saga fans.”

… “Laceleaf’s Stalker” 16 :p

16. Are they a hero or a supporting protagonist?

Laceleaf’s stalker: “I’m an old-fashioned chivalrous hero, who is tragically out-of-place in this modern world. Someday everyone will see that, and feel sorry for how they’ve mistreated me! If they don’t feel it on their own, I’ll make them sorry.”
