Well, readers, it finally happened: my comics had Too Much Monthly Traffic for my hosting plan. So the sites (Leif & Thorn, But I’m A Cat Person, and even And Shine Heaven Now) were briefly unavailable, until I paid for an upgrade to the next level.
As problems go, “too many readers” isn’t a bad one to have.
An extra shoutout here to all the Leif & Thorn supporters on Patreon. Although my once-a-year crowdfunding projects (like the current campaign to print Volume 8) hopefully have a little leftover profit, once all the “making a book” expenses are paid…the regular year-round Patreon support is what I rely on to cover costs like this.
The new hosting plan should take care of all our traffic for the foreseeable future. If you want to help us make the most of it — now is the perfect time to do an archive binge! Or recommend any of these comics to a friend. Or, hey, go wild and do both.

Truly, there is such a thing as suffering from success. XD Meanwhile, I saw the site was down right after waking up and my soul left my body…
Oh, so that’s what it was. I’m curious if the higher reward tiers of the book campaigns help you financially? I have a strong aversion towards subscriptions of any kind but don’t mind paying more for the physical goods.
It does, yes!
The funds from the campaign are deposited into my Comics Work Bank Account, and all comics-related expenses are paid out of that account. (…not that I’m handing out my banking information right and left, I put purchases on a designated Comics Work Credit Card, and the monthly bill for that card is taken from that account.)
So once I’m done buying/shipping all the campaign rewards, any extra profits stay in that account! And they’re on hand when I need to pay for something like this.
