Kale’s smiley in the transcript has its mouth opposite to the comic.
I didn’t read the transcript as having a mouth, but rather that the parentheses were creating a face framing two eyes. Not sure what’s up with the semicolons though.
I think the semicolons are standing in for the stress lines or sweat or whatever over the right eye.
The transcript has a curved line with its opening on the top between the eyes, which makes it seem like a stressed-out smile. The comic however has the line between the eyes curved with the opening on the bottom, creating a stressed out frown or pout. So there is some difference there
I wouldn’t have understood that Kale made a joke with a punchline, and Leif replied with a drum rimshot, without the transcript. Thank goodness for the transcripts lol
