Ludolf: Since you’re here, we’ll go ahead and run the update to your compulsions.
Leif: Yes, sir.
Ludolf: Standard aversion to letting any national secrets slip while you’re with our customer.
Leif: Of course! Not that I would ever do that anyway.
If I knew any secrets in the first place. Which I don’t! . . . Sir. And I’m sure Thån isn’t planning to ask for them!
Ludolf: Doesn’t mean we can’t take precautions. Now hold still.
Leif: Yes, sir.

Is it in fact worse than anything you could imagine? I for one can think of crueler ways to brainwash someone. (I really hope this isn’t painful.)
I don’t think this is the training, so now, you’re right about that. But this is angering because they seem to purposefully leave the target’s free will intact, like they’re actually supposed to enjoy this bullshit sense of servitude for life.
Welllll, this isn’t creepy at aaaaaaalllll oh god so creepy
just put on the helmet, and you won’t feel creeped out ever again, we promise
XD
You keep that helmet away from me!
But it’s so stylish! see? isn’t this raptor so intimidating and beautiful? Imagine how imposing you’d look, wearing it! It’s just a little sacrifice; who’d miss their free will, really?!
well, that answers some questions.
Also, we just finished a minor conversation about consent on Cat Person…so…this is really like, the opposite end of what Kara just did! OMG!
Welp, this is a nice straightforward moral axis. What’s the mark on Leif’s neck?
Why does this remind me of the creepy removed scene from Zootopia?
*looks up scene*
Well, I mean, you’ve already seen Leif get shocked for breaking rules, so the narrative parallels are easy…
Hey…Erin…we’ve already established that Magic A is Magic A (so the two national magics conflict). This semi-charmed kind of mind control…has anyone actually tested it in “Magic B”‘s environment? Like, REALLY tested it? because it would kind of suck for Leif had a stray thought and tazing his frontal lobe because the mechanics are short-circuited.
People are asking so many good and on-point questions this storyline!
I’m just wondering whether the new compulsion might itself be a state secret…
Honestly? that’s the worst way to go about it. a simple “I’m sorry, I’m not allowed to answer that.” compulsion is all that’s needed, without pain. otherwise you might risk breaking your own control over them if you make it even EASIER to torture your confidante.
* AH!
