Archie: Let’s go say hi!
Rowan: Ohhh, she must hate getting swarmed by her fans —
Archie: I don’t let swarms visit the set. I let you.
Hey, Rii-rii!
Actress: Mleh. Chi-chi. Whadda you want?
Rowan: This is my friend Rowan, and he would love if you did The Speech.
Actress: [SIGH] Ahem. “Magic is here to make our lives better, not to be twisted to your cruel and selfish ends. In the name of the law –“
Rowan: Um — I am so sorry, but. My favorite part is the other Speech.

Yeah, this is what I was afraid of. Sometimes actors aren’t the people you associate with their characters, and I’m worried Rowan is basically about to run headfirst into that trap.
I’m holding out hope that The Actress Who Portrays Lt. Olive Badiane knows EXACTLY which ‘other speech’ is the one Rowan likes. The one that’s about comforting the victim, instead of visiting righteousness on the perpetrator, and understands perfectly why Rowan might like that speech.
Yeah, that’d suck, but I don’t think it’d be a *completely* soul-crushing disappointment. Just, like…. a little soul-crushing. The kind you can get over?
And there’s no reason to think it’ll mess up his budding relationship with Archie, who wrote the speech in the first place. Archie is great and cannot be ruined by Tired and Jaded TV Stars, I have stated it therefore it Must be True.
*Screenshots this moment for later because it’s the boss’ writing and we should all know better by now.*
We should…know better than to have faith that she wouldn’t have something stupid mess up a relationship? I really hope that’s not what you meant.
Pretty sure he means “we should know better than to expect the artist won’t interrupt these characters’ Nice Day Out with something dramatic and painful.”
…which is, generally, true. (No spoilers for the exact sources of Drama coming up.)
Haha, yeah, I’m absolutely expecting this date to go badly! But you’re really good at throwing a monkey wrench into the works without blowing up The Whole Ship. 8)
