That’s right, it’s a flashback!
Leif’s first experience with servitude was at the Rocky Rapids Guest Lodge, previously seen in All Green Thumbs.
Imri: Seems like there’s no way around it . . . we’ll have to buy more servants.
Stanczia: Hmph.
Imri: Rocky Rapids gets good product reviews. Not too shaky, not too willful . . .
Stanczia: Take initiative, but not too much initiative.
Imri: Not only that, it’s a hotel! All the canceled travel must’ve emptied it out. They’ll be desperate for money — we might be able to get a bargain.
And so:
Stanczia: What do you mean, “no”?

Ohhhhh, I can not wait for the next comic!
Someone telling Stanczia no? Oh Flyboy is going to LOVE this. I can’t wait to see who has the guts to tell a vampire no.
It’s Manager Ingrid of the Rocky Rapids Guest Lodge, and I’m guessing Ingrid’s hands are tied by travel restrictions that were just implemented ,on top of maybe actually giving a damn about her servants.
It’s Manager Ingrid of the Rocky Rapids Guest Lodge. I’m betting that she’s unable to ship them any servants even if she wanted to due to travel restrictions.
If that’s the case, the vampires probably won’t be able to get around the restrictions because Leif survived.
Vampires have a long memory and (except for package delivery apparently) incredible patience when it comes to plans coming to fruition. Perhaps their Leif dinner was in some way predicated on this interaction and not just Leif’s bad luck?
They’ve been doing pretty poorly in the patience department this storyline.
Just because you never forget doesn’t mean you’re patient
They’re not averse to a century-long plan however.
