Love the positioning in this image. It seems to echo Thorn’s relationships with both of the others. He loves Leif, so he holds him close, but he’s got Kale’s back.
And Kale is leaning back like he trusts Thorn to support him. I really hope we get to see him this relaxed in canon someday.

I think that’s gonna be relatively soon. I mean… Thorn’s defending him against an assassin as we speak; How much more trustworthy can one prove themselves?!
Sadly, however, I still think it will be a while yet before “Kale trusts Thorn as much as he can trust anyone” turns into “Kale actually stops expecting, even for a little while, that something bad will happen anyway.”
Not gonna lie, this has been my lock screen wallpaper on my computer since you posted it to deviantart. It’s really lovely.
