New year, new storyline!
I think all the warnings for this arc have been pretty thoroughly foreshadowed…but I’ll spoiler-cut them just in case.

Therapist’s office.
Therapist: Kale? Come on in.
This is our last session before this big party you’re going to. Let’s talk about it.
Kale: . . . do we have to?
Therapist: You told me you wanted to, at the end of last session. Made me put it in my notes, so I wouldn’t forget.
You also said “it’s terrifying, I really need the help” and “no matter what I say, don’t let me wiggle out of it” and . . .
Kale: Urrrgh. Fine.

Asking for help is strength of character, and it’s good to know yourself, Kudzu.
On the subject of the site, in Google Chrome when using the Northern Lights theme, the text in the Spoiler box in the commentary is white-on-white.
Firefox too.
It’s black on white for me in Firefox.
I may be wrong, but I’m pretty sure he wants to be called Kale at this point. And I personally like the white on white for the spoiler hidden content warning. It’s like an extra level of security. I have to actively highlight it if I want to know. Overkill, maybe, but not unwelcome from me. I’m only one person though, of course.
The closest Kale has come to saying that he prefers Kale is during the events of The Show Must Grow On, he reminds himself that I’m just ordinary grumpy loner translator Kale. That’s all I do. It’s all I need to do., then later that night, with Thorn, he says that Kale Romarin might even be my legal name at this point..
In the first, he makes the choice to perhaps discard Kale, if it means saving people, in the second, it comes across more as him recognizing the social advantage of not expecting Thorn to call him anything else, lest he slip up or be overheard. Kale is convenience and safety, but not vital.
As far as the active highlighting thing, that is exactly what I thought it was meant to be, but I double-checked against the Blue Castle theme. I for-sure see your point of view there, I just wanted to let Erin know so the two themes will achieve parity, one way or the other.
In both IceCat and Epiphany, the spoiler alert is black on white. I do typically try to run an addon similar to DarkReader, but I don’t have those for either of those browsers, as IceCat’s addons are not organized, as far as I can tell, and I haven’t found out how to do addons in Epiphany. I don’t think I’ve found settings in either to have a similar effect. Most of the comics I read are glaringly white on both of those, but this one seems to have a very nice theme.
Hehehe. Regretting giving your psych-person the proper instructions and asks for help. I have been there and done that XD Recognise this so much!
It’s good to know what helps you though. And though I may regret it in the moment, I have never regretted it long term.
I understand different people are different. For me… I’ve always been very glad that I gave my therapist that sort of instruction and they were following through with it, whenever that’s happened. Unfortunately, most of the therapists I’ve had seem to forget any instructions I give for the next session at the end of a session.
To be fair, even though I was very glad to be held to what I’d previously stated that I knew I needed, it was also always really difficult, and I would still try to squirm out of it. I can understand and sympathize with those therapists who do not want to deal with a verbally squirming patient like that. Unfortunately, there are times when even though I *know* I need to talk about something, it’s very difficult to actually talk about it.
I wonder if that trial is going to come into play…
Omg finally we get the Kale backstory?? HYPE!!!
Bouncing around rereading storylines, and with a shrink these days the therapy humor is even funnier. Because it’s so true! What a good therapist. “Do I have to?” “Well, you told me to last time…”
